Might I also suggest wrapping the AP in something like bubble wrap as a
fall from 50 meters would probably kill one.  Some form of
weatherproofing might also be a concern, don't know how this would
impact on signal however.

of cable running to it drapes across the power lines outside your

Okay, it might not apply in your specific case, but it is something
which should be considered.
