This USB extender from Gefen allows USB to be carried over CAT5 up to 100m
which would enable a cheap USB AP to be roof-mounted and fed via cheap CAT5
rather than awkward and expensive LMR400

It isn't cheap at US$479 but is food for thought and should decline in price
eventually.
