probably one of (if not the) most popular amongst the GUI's

If you want console only, i would suggest Debian, it is the easiest to
maintain once setup.  The GUI side of Debian can be difficult to get right
if you have weird hardware.

Mandrake is another good GUI which gets good reviews.

Cant comment on the others, never used them.
