[MLB-WIRELESS] eeepc as ap

I have eeebuntu 3.0 installed on a eeepc 701sd , generally the installation
is fine, and it seems to have enough grunt to run as a server quite happily.
The default interface has a network option to set the wireless interface
wlan0 to ap mode.  This is fine, but it only seems to do adhoc not
infrastructure, anyone have any thoughts? Ultimately trying to forward from
eth0 to wlan0 but as they say one step at a time.
