[MLB-WIRELESS] Simplest, cheapest, GPS style tracking

I'm wondering if using the APRS system is better than using the nextG
network for the GPS-data.

His balloon got to 30,000m and his handheld transmitter appears to have kept
reception, would we expect a nextG device to keep reception ?
