[MLB-WIRELESS] Mikrotik routerOS and serial port access

Hi Folks,

At the general meeting last week, Peter demonstrated how it is possible to
remotely monitor APC UPS systems attached to routerBoard devices.  Some
discussion ensued relating to various ways to access the onboard routerBoard
serial port, and whether it is possible to connect to the serial port
directly from a remote system.

On looking up the relevant official documentation, I thought some people may
be interested to know that routerOS supports transparent access to the
serial port via Telnet/ssh as well as remote COM port via RFC 2217.  For
