AFAIK.....The key isn't on the disk....just the algorithm to check if the
key itself is correct.

sorry for the off topic post. 

is there a way to retrieve the product key from a cdrom?

ie.  win xp pro cd.  lost serial.

I do have key finders but this decrypts it from the registry of an 
installation. 

I have a CD and no key.

Any help appreciated.

Original disk as well,  not installed on any pc.
