I've used OpenWRT on at least 4 WRT54GLs. As far as I can tell they act the 
same as a version 4 WRT54G. The motherboard configuration is a little 
different though, about 1/3 of the pcb has been cut out completely, so for 
remounting in an external box, it might be smaller.
