This will work when the two points are well within easy range of each other,
but issues with this approach will manifest when pushing the limits of the
"weakest"* piece of equipment. Where two directionals may be able to get a
decent link, one directional and an omni may not be able to establish
anything. You may be hampered by mismatched antenna polarity for a start.
Then there are the issues of different radiation patterns giving radically
different reflections, having to take the floor of the EIRP of the different
equipment, and other (probably subtle and infuriating) differences in
propagation.
