Someone tell me where my maths is going wrong.... I thought 1 watt into a 23
dBi antenna would give you about 7 watts.....
Regards,

Amplifier Safety
Every 10dBi of antenna gain gives you 10 times the power.
Every 3dBi of antenna gain gives you double the power.
Connecting an amplified card or AP to high gain antenna is not only
illegal, it is dangerous.
Why?
A 1W amp into a 23dBi antenna would give you:
1W x 10 (for 10dBi) x 10 (another 10dBi) x 2 (for 3dBi) = 300Watts
EIRP at the antenna.
Scary.
