Barry,

As the device boots, try pinging the default IP address (and any others you
may have used on the device).  A switch or hub between the WRT and your PC
will ensure your PC interface stays up.  If it does respond during the
boot_wait period you could try TFTPing some new (or original) firmware.

If that doesn't work, solder a header onto the serial port and build /
borrow an interface and talk to it with a serial terminal.

And if that doesn't work you'll need to clean out the holes and solder in a
header on the JTAG.  The usual cause of these problems are bad or corrupted
NVRAM settings which prevent the device from booting.  With the JTAG
interface and the "Hairy Dairy Maid" software (Get version 3) you will be
able to clear the NVRAM settings.  You can get links to the procedure and

You shouldn't need to flash the CFE or Linux with the JTAG only the NVRAM
area.  To do all 3 areas takes ages!!!
