On the subject, it would be an interesting
experiment to strap a Peltier device to a WLAN
card and see if freezing it lowers the
noise floor, increasing its sensitivity.
Might be useful for those who are into distance
records?
Two things to watch out for:
1) Make sure the low temperature doesn't cause
condensation inside the card, causing it to
to de-tune.
2) The temperature shift may cause oscillators to drift
off channel. Maybe keep both ends of the link
at the same low temperature to combat this effect?
