No, RFC1918 address is specifically reserved for private networks. There
are occasional routing 'leaks' but it's not intended to be used for
anything global.

It would be easy enough to run one or more well placed slaves for the
wireless.org.au (or whatever) domain name.
You know what would really rock? Dynamic routing that also includes
INTERNET addresses. When you dial into your ISP and get assigned an
address (or start up your DSL with static IP) then your router propagates
that route out, saying "look - got any packets for this IP? send them this
way."
That way, if a global IP you are connecting to happens to belong to a MW
member who is also reachable via wireless, it will go the wireless route
instead of via your ISP.
This can be implemented without being required... it's just a bonus. The
network won't collapse if someone's Windows box is unable to advertise
their net IP.
