You would be considered a node.
Unless.. in getting connected to the few other people around your area,
you decide to make your station a public access point where anyone could
connect and access the data on your mini-net.

Nodes are like leaves. - They don't route and they don't provide access
for other people.
Backbone links primarily route between two significant places. - like
two access points, or an access point and another router.
Public access points, are well, access points that provide the public
access to the network.
