I beg to differ on this one!

Laptops... No!

Large networks.. NO! (If you need to replace a switch temporarily, you're
going to need to modify every machine (Try doing that for a 400 port
concentrator)).

IMHO, It's 180deg from this, Auto Neg is good, except when it fails. I use
it as a _last_ resort.
