[MLB-WIRELESS] SVEC Hack on XP

I have played around with these settings a bit, following what Fenn Bailey wrote on the SVECWLAP wiki entry. I did the power hack but it seemed to make the AP very unstable - the higher I set the power the more often the radio dropped out entirely. I didn't experiment too much with all of the values you can tweak - but if you do make sure you write down or screen-capture the original values! I'm not sure that resetting factory defaults will restore the original radio values.

The other interesting thing in the extra menus you get is the ability to change things like the MAC Address and the regulatory domain. You can get channel 14 on the AP if you set it to certain domains. But these values won't stick. There's a way to make the MAC address and regulatory domain stick - I emailed the guy who's done it to the Linksys models but it's over my head. It involves compiling MIB files and playing with MIB browsers. Also it may not work for the SVEC. But I can forward the email he sent me to anyone who wants to give it a shot.

Also, if anyone can get their SVEC AP to work in wireless repeater mode I'd like to hear from them. Mine just hang when I try it.

Dan

You'll have to make the file.

  Here's some reading material.

  Hi,

I've read on the internet that their's a hack for the SNMP manager of the SVEC AP. This involves changing enteries in a .ini file.

I'm running Windows XP, and can not find the .ini file specified.

  Can anyone help me please.

  Thanks

  Adam.
