Actually, it's not even a nice idea, even if it did work... It's just a
variation on Security by Obsurity....
Where it does have merit is in noise control... Y'all are probably aware that
the power output and number of users of a mobile phone transmitter are
inversely linked. The size of the cells coverage increases and contracts
depending on the number of users. Wifi should do the same, especially in
adhoc networks. Think of it as graceful failover control or proximity based
admition control. Or as guarenteeing the lowest power (and thus noise) able
to just reach your "customers".
