[MLB-WIRELESS] Zebra Patched now known as "Quagga"

For those of you who haven't yet begun to tackle Zebra, OSPF, and routing
for use on the Melbwireless network, here's a bit of info to help get you
started on the right path.

Zebra is a dynamic routing daemon for Linux designed to support most of the
automatic routing protocols available such as BGP, OSPF, and RIP.  OSPF
(Open Shortest Path First), was chosen as the routing protocol of choice on
the Melbwireless network by the Routing working group after much research
and investigation.

Initially it was recommended that Zebra (http://www.zebra.org/) be used,
however it came to light that there are bugs in Zebra that would in turn
cause headaches for us.  Patches were available to fix most of these however
the people running the Zebra project appear to have all but abandoned it.
No patches have been applied since mid 2002.

Thus an alternate version of Zebra that contains all patches to date and is
contstantly updated was created, this was called Zebra-Patched
(http://zebra.dishone.st).  This version is quite reliable and has had a lot
of development made, so much that it has got to the point were it has just
been renamed to "Quagga" (http://www.quagga.net/).  We are running this
version of Zebra/Quagga in the Outer Eastern region on 4 node's and GHO,
with dynamic routing performing very well.

So anyone looking to start working with Dynamic routing, make sure you use
Quagga.
