[MLB-WIRELESS] DLINK 900AP?

i am going to pick up on of these on the weekend and have just had a sudden 
flash of shear stupidity.

i will only have the one wireless ap no other cards so when i make the antenna 
i wont be able to test it.. 

thats not so bad i could come to an installfest..

but there is one operational node really close that i think i can get LOS to.

He told me the MAC address.

I am i able to detect connection through this ap? 

like can i tell if there is a connection and who it is with?



(yes i know these are stupid questions)
