[MLB-WIRELESS] RE: passive repeater - Take 2

What is a "passive repeater", please? Is two antennas connected to each
other without any other electronics? Is the 3dB loss the total loss - in
other words can it be compensated for by antennas at each far end with a 3dB
higher gain?
