Or you could get yourself a 12V to 240V inverter from Jaycar for 
about $80:  that way you'd always have the option of using your lappy 
in the car in the future.  The $80 version puts out 60 watts, enough 
for a laptop and a printer, and a few other low-load devices, or 
there's a 100 watt version for another $10.
