The guy who was doing the infra-red stuff in williamstown wanted initially to
lay cable around his neighbourhood and the council would NOT approve it, would
NOT dig up roads for it, would NOT hang it from telephone poles etc.
Short-range block-sized networks linked to similar nets would be the go, i.e.:
each block has one backbone link out to melbwireless and intra-block is
short-range but fast.
