The supply outputs in a PC are easy to identify.  The important ones are:

Black - GND ( 0V)
Red - +5V
Yellow - +12V

For long 5V runs, it may be better to tap the 12V line and use a standalone
5V regulator at the top of the pole.  This prevents voltage drop along the
cable from causing operational options.
