Yeah Rob, if probally wouldn't need 2 point the antenna in the direction of the 
laptop to get a signal, try it and see how u go..

I'm just about to finish modding my 24dB Galaxy antenna and I want to play
with it, but of course I only have one antenna.  Will I get any kind of
results if I just point it at a laptop with a wireless card without an
external antenna connected?

Also, thanks everyone for the help this afternoon getting this very nifty
antenna ready to go!
