Cracking WEP requires you to passively monitor 1-3 GB traffic. That makes
it less trivial than some may lead you to believe. A newer version of WEP
that is backwards compatible is due for release (if not already out there).
It eliminates use of the weak keys and offers better protection than the
existing WEP implementation.
There are serious issues with WEP that need to be understood before you
use it but that doesn't mean you shouldn't use it. Just do your homework
as you would with any tool you use to secure your data.
