Lock up your Wireless LANs, there are hackers in town
While education has led the uptake of wireless networking technology,
2001 has seen the enterprise world realise the commercial and work place
benefits of wireless technology. Along with this burgeoning interest has
come caution regarding the potential insecurity of wireless networks,
with reports of drive-by wirelss hackers causing much concern. However,
the biggest threat to wireless security is not a drive-by hacker but
complacency towards security, with simple mistakes allowing unnecessary
security breaches in wireless networks. For the enterprise market, which
demands the most rigorous requirements for data security, technology has
picked up speed, with products now on the market that address
user-to-user security within a wireless LAN.
