[MLB-WIRELESS] learning java: suggestions?

 hmmm, I might learn java this week.   anyone here know java and have any
advice? Am currently running windows with a linux box 90% assembled

What I'm after is:
what should I download to get java running on my system under windows98 and
redhat 7.2? I know sun has a jdk should I use that one or is there a better
one?  Any websites I should read? I had a copy of "thinking in java" but it
walked (I think the owner reclaimed it).
