Sorry
I did not mean to denegrate the guys running the buy.
The organisers put in a lot of time and effort for no reward, we should
try to help minimise there pain when suppliers drop them in it.
I think that we should be looking at building a relationship thing with
vendors to stop this happening or at least get treated as real people.
This is why companies have buying departments, maybe we need one too.
I think you will find in all bulk purchases in the group if it falls
through or there are problems, then it will be due to the supplier of the
equipment or the people participating. A bulk purchase working-group or
committee could be good, but it will not prevent deals falling through.
All these problems will still be caused by suppliers and participants.
I know...because I have already walked through the valley of death...I
mean bulk buys.

What exactly happened to the enterasys order?
Can we start a purchasing committee/group/thing so these events don't
fall
into a heap and screw up every ones week.
