It occurs to me (IOTM?) that a GPL network does not preclude local
co-ops or associations or clubs or gangs of mates from getting
together to group-fund and own an AP that benefits them. I think
common ownership of APs is one of the few compelling reasons for an
over-arching organisation, (insurance being another, but i'm not
convinced on that either) and...

Consider
a. that all nodes will be limited to 11 meg
b. that we should probably try to *avoid* making any single node
crucially important, by way of redundancy, for reasons of bandwidth
and robustness.

any outdoor installations should be put up by a licensed (and
insured) builder/ roofer/ antenna installer. even an association
would be vulnerable to a claim for the proverbial collapsing mast, if
it was put up by amateurs, and the ass'n owned it. and that exposes
the _whole_ of melbwireless to liability for _every_ mast we co-own.
possibly better to break it down to smaller, local co-ownership
groups or individuals.
I'm not convinced we need to own anything as a group.
