This mongrelised connector thing is not a 3.3V vs 5V issue is it? I know
some PCMCIA slots prevent the insertion of 3.3V PCMCIA cards if they only
support 5V. Forcing the card into the slot will likely damage your card. I
would have a look at the supported voltages on the PCMCIA adapter before
going much further!
