[MLB-WIRELESS] Punch through concrete walls

I have a Dlink DWL1000 AP located in one apartment unit. I'd liek it to
be able to send it's signals through an adjacent unit to reach my
apartment. The AP's antenna seems to be quarter wave.
 
I'm thinking of adding an extgernal simple di-pole to increase gain. Any
other suggestions?
