One thing you will have to take into consideration is your freznal zone.  If 
your doing it over x distance at ground level then its not really "real world" 
results because of the freznal factor.  If however you found a nice little hill, 
use a gps to calculate your distace, and a small test mast of say 3-6 M then you 
will have a good look at what the "clean air"  l.o.s. range will be on the gear 
your testing.  Come up to Mildura and Ill let you on a 50 M water tower.  
Garanteed flat round here and youll see for miles.  Cheers.
