No.  I think this was something you asked in your original post too. 
The AP has to be compatible with your cards which means same spectrum
and same modulation so same speed.  Higher speeds are comming, but you
will need to upgrade all your cards as well as your AP.

If you have so many nodes that you swamp one 11Mbps AP, there is enough
spectrum in the 2.4 GHz band that you can run up to three in the same
space.
