Hi everyone,

The next meeting of the Linux Users of Victoria will be held on
Tuesday 2nd of October at 7pm.

This month we have

Beginners Talk
"The X Window System: An overview" by Robin Stephens.

This talk will provide an overview of how the components of
the Linux graphical environment work together to produce
a working desktop system.

Details about how to correctly configure your environment
will not be discussed but hopefully a newbie can get an
idea of how it all fits together for the purpose of solving
problems and/or asking intelligent questions.


Main Presentation:
"Wireless Networking - An Introduction" by Stuart Young.

Wireless networking has come of age, and yet many people
are in the dark. This talk will explain the basics behind
wireless networking, how it differs from a traditional
wired network, what systems and standards are available,
and what issues you need to worry about in deploying a
wireless network.

When:
        7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
        Tuesday 2nd October

Where:
        Theatre 1 (downstairs), SEECS Building, 221 Bouverie St, Carlton.

All welcome.

LUV will also have a selection of Linux merchandise on sale, including
LUV T-shirts, plush penguins, PC badges, and /dev/mugs. All profits from
sales will go to LUV.

After the meeting, you can join us for pizza at Papa Gino's, which is
a 5-minute walk from the venue.
