802.11A uses 5.7GHz, 802.11B and 802.11 (and 802.11G to come) use 2.4 GHz.
There is no chance of compatibility therefore. You should also note that
propagation in the 5.7 GHz band is not as good as at 2.4GHz so you will not
get as much range with A as you can with B.
