Yes something happened.
Booting in xen 4.1 not in 4.2 the same files/templates.
I am not sure copying the old bootloader from 4.1 will work.

Well, all the info I can find seems to point to this being something with
grub4dos failing. As this has nothing to do with hvmloader - and that your
screenshots are from what looks to be a VNC session (ie only available AFTER
the DomU has started), then I don't think this is a Xen problem.
Sure, something is not right, but I think its with the guest OS or
bootloader, not Xen itself.
